We’ve recently been working here in North Deighton, at a manor house, formerly associated with the Ingelby family of Ripley Castle. The grade II manor house, which dates from the early 19th Century, was once used as a military hospital during WW1.
We carried out stone repairs to the entrance gateposts, something we specialise in here at BRC. Our skilled team carefully replicated the remaining stonework in both colour and texture.
Hard cement strap pointing was removed from the joints and face of the stonework, allowing the masonry to breathe once more. It was then repointed with a lime mortar mix.
As you can see in the photograph below, the cement pointing was quite unsightly and would, over time, have been a contributory factor in the erosion of the stonework.
