BRC Leeds Ltd were proud to be a part of this extensive refurbishment project at Leeds Art Gallery. Leeds Art Gallery, next to the Henry Moore Institute, is part of the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle and gives visitors the opportunity to see works of art by important national and international artists. It houses the most significant Collection of 20th Century British Art in the country. All this in the heart of Leeds.
The Gallery was first opened back in 1888. The tiled hall was finally reopened in its current form in 2007 following its £1.5 million refurbishment. During this restoration BRC Leeds Ltd formed and fitted this stunning arch in a previously solid wall, linking the Victorian Tiled Hall Café to the rest of the gallery. Twelve years on this stone arch still looks great really framing the café beyond.
Inside the Victorian Tiled Hall Café we also carried out remedial works to the majestic pillars which line the café. Sections of the pillars were completely removed and then replaced.
